May 29, 2023 – Induction GlovesThe supplier of haptic force-feedback gloves today announced its latest innovation, the “Nova 2,” the second generation of the company’s SenseGlove Nova haptic glove.
According to SenseGlove, the new device will help improve the way users interact with the digital world by delivering a new level of realism in virtual training, research and social multiplayer interactions.
SenseGlove products allow users to interact naturally in virtual reality (VR) by providing a sense of touch and allowing users to feel the size, stiffness and resistance of virtual objects. Unlike controllers, haptic gloves allow users to hold, push, touch, connect and squeeze digital objects in the virtual world as if they were real.
The new glove will feature "active touch feedback" to mimic the feel in the user's hand, making any object that comes into contact with the entire palm feel more real -- whether it's a car steering wheel, a lab flask, or just an apple.
Active contact feedback will complement force feedback, already available in SenseGlove's current Nova glove, which provides the illusion of grasping an object by restricting finger movement. Now, not only will the fingers be confined around virtual objects, but the entire palm will feel all kinds of interactions: from squeezing and breaking glasses to shaking hands.
SenseGlove added that the Nova 2 is also ideal for simulating the feedback of power tools, such as handsaws, drills and grinders, and anything that creates a strong impact during interaction, such as hammers, pliers and rehab stress balls.
In addition, active contact feedback will mean that the new Nova gloves can also provide a new dimension to social and multi-person interaction, allowing users to high-five and feel the response or handshake of colleagues on the other side of the world. business partners, and feel them clasping hands in response.
“Since the launch of SenseGlove, we have been gathering feedback on desired features,” said Frank Goovaerts, CEO of SenseGlove. "One of the most popular features is the ability to feel feedback on the palm of the hand, just like in real life. With the Nova 2.0, we've been able to incorporate this feature while maintaining the glove's wireless and compact design."
The SenseGlove Nova 2 will start shipping in the fourth quarter of 2023 for $5,999. For those who can't wait, though, SenseGlove has updated pricing on the current version of the Nova glove, which now offers a $1,000 discount for a total price of $3,999.
SenseGlove will be at AWE this week in Santa ClaraFrom May 31st to June 2nd. For more information on SenseGlove and its virtual reality haptic solutions, visit the company's website.
