June 14, 2023 – Vuzix Corporation, a supplier of smart glasses and augmented reality (AR) technologies and products, announced this week that it has become a leading U.S.-based supplier of high-tech and smart solutions for downstream OEM procurement engineering services and products. The recipient, according to Vuzix, is a company that primarily serves the global aerospace and defense industry.
Specific dollar values, product quantities and customer names are rarely disclosed, as contract details common in the defense sector are often limited. However, Vuzix said the renewal brings the customer's total contract value to near the mid-six-digit level, and the company expects orders to be delivered in the coming months.
According to Vuzix, the contract renewal is for the second phase of developing components for a lightweight heads-up display (HUD) with technology previously supplied by a non-U.S. company. The defense customer is a supplier to several existing projects and will Vuzix is a pioneer in manufacturing waveguide and display technology in the United States.
