June 22, 2023,HTC VIVE, a supplier of XR headsets and hardware, andVictoryXR, a provider of immersive education solutions, has reached an agreement to provide students with a set of virtual global field trips.
According to VictoryXR, by usingHTC VIVE Flowheadsets, students will be able to travel in virtual worlds. Some of the virtual locations include the Great Wall of China, California's redwood forests, Iceland's volcanoes and 127 other locations.
VictoryXR CEO Steve Grubbs said: "Teachers and students want to experience global travel in virtual reality. We have developed a series of field trips that combine amazing travel with fun science and history teaching content. With the global distribution of VIVE Flow headsets , this rich catalog will be easily at your fingertips, providing a powerful teaching tool for students around the world."
Initially, the agreement will cover North America, Europe, Australia (ASEAN) and the Middle East. The VXR Global Traveler app will be pre-installed on the helmet, providing parents and teachers with a powerful teaching tool before shipping.
VictoryXR added that many of the field trips were taken by experienced science teachers from Davenport's Ashram Senior High SchoolWendy Martinled, she was a finalist for the U.S. National Teacher of the Year Award.
“I love filming these field trips in 360-degree VR because it gives students the opportunity to be at some of the most important scientific sites in the world,” Martin said. “We’ve visited Yellowstone National Park, the Rockies, and over 30 other sites. It has created the best 360-degree VR learning library in the world."
Students can choose to listen to the field trip content in English or read it with subtitles in Arabic, French, German or Spanish.
