Leardal Medical Partners with SimX to Launch Virtual Reality Medical Simulation Training

June 23, 2023 – Laerdal Medical, a company that provides simulation-based CPR, patient care and first aid training, and SimX, a virtual reality (VR) medical simulation platform, announced a partnership this week to help improve patient safety and train healthcare providers to deliver optimal care through a VR simulation training program.

According to the companies, patient simulations are an important part of training healthcare providers to deal with the realities of practice without putting real patients at risk. Under the partnership agreement, Laerdal will become the primary distributor of the SimX virtual reality simulation platform to hospital, emergency services and government customers in the United States and Canada.

Neil Weber, President of Laerdal Medical North America, said: “Laerdal’s mission is to save lives – our goal is to save an additional million lives per year by 2030. SimX represents a leader in VR and shares our mission with us, Designed to save lives. With the resources and expertise between our two organizations, we can help healthcare providers in hospitals, emergency services and the military be prepared to deliver quality care and positively impact patient outcomes."

Developed by clinicians and educators, SimX provides clinicians and educators with a unique "holodeck" experience, allowing them to treat patients as they would in real life. According to SimX, students, teachers and observers can work around the same virtual patient at the same time and from any location. The company's platform includes more than 250 existing scenarios and can also be customized to an organization's individual training needs.

Ryan Ribeira, Founder and CEO of SimX, said: "This collaboration represents the next phase in the expansion of VR simulations. With the combination of SimX's expertise in VR and Laerdal's credibility and market presence, we are truly I believe the potential to positively impact patient care through this immersive provider training is enormous."
