BANC3 Awarded SBIR Contract to Develop Augmented Reality Optics for the US Army

2023年6月28日 – BANC3companyis a technology product development company that supports the U.S. Department of Defense and recently announced that it has been awarded a multi-year Phase 3 contract by the U.S. Army Contracting Command to develop equipment for use with the High Explosive All-Powerful Ammunition (HEDP-AB) Airburst Programmer Unit (PU) Rack Machine Vision (MMO) fire control system utilizing BANC3's Augmented Reality (AR)/Mixed Reality (MR) capabilities.

Commenting on the recent announcement, Babu Cherukuri, CEO of BANC3, said: "We are delighted to continue our longstanding relationship with the U.S. military to provide it with mission-critical next-generation Fire Control System and look forward to continuing to support the warfighter."

Under the contract, BANC3 will develop an augmented reality capability integrated with the fire control system. BANC3 said the work will leverage and build on the company's "AR/MR for Live Fire Range" through its U.S. Army Program Executive Office – Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) in Orlando, Florida. SBIRCompetence and experience in Phase 1 and 2 contract work.

BANC3 noted that its previous SBIR contract work focused on developing a stand-alone light-transmitting head-mounted display (HMD) for displaying virtual targets and simulated environmental occluders for soldier shooting training.

Cherukuri added: "The Phase 3 award is a flexible contractual mechanism that provides an exclusive contractual vehicle to fund any follow-on work, facilitating transition of technology and commercialization of products to improve upon existing Maintenance and training work. Further use cases include simplifying applications such as military logistics and inventory management.”
