July 5, 2023 — VR TrainingXR Vehicle Training Simulator, a company focused on XR vehicle training simulators, recently announced that it has developed a mixed reality (MR) vehicle simulation training platform for use by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps under a contract awarded by Consortium Management Group on behalf of NASA. Team training.

The work involved in this award is the first of a multi-stage Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) to be carried out by participating companies within a team of companies led by VR Training. Other participating companies include302 InteractiveandTalon Simulations.

The OTA was designed to meet an urgent training need at NASA's Pilot Training School to create, build and implement mixed reality-based training modules to train Soldiers to operate the military's new amphibious combat vehicle (ACV).

“Training will be the number one focus in the amphibious combat vehicle,” said VR Training CEO & Founder Neil Levin. "We have great respect for how quickly they want to implement new training for the modern digital navy. Mixed reality can literally save lives. I'm excited to see the U.S. Navy adopt mixed reality technology to keep service members safe."

Under the agreement, the company's team will create configurations for two mixed reality trainers for the U.S. Marine Corps, with the understanding that a follow-on contract or agreement may be entered into to build the solution in the future.

"Securing the safety of the men and women of our nation's military has historically been one of the most important aspects of national defense," said Robert Torres, chief commercial officer at 302 Interactive. "The military's adoption of next-generation technologies through this and other programs will enhance these efforts."

The final product will include a mixed reality headset, a training module that can be guided by a professional instructor, and a motion-based seat made by Talon Simulations. Talon Simulations' virtual reality simulators are used both in military training solutions and in entertainment venues.

“When we founded Talon Simulations, we knew we wanted to impact the industries we work with in a positive way,” said Talon Simulations CEO Brandon Slater Naids. "Seeing where our technology will be used to help train the next generation of the U.S. Navy is yet another achievement of our goals."

VR Training is headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, and 302 Interactive and Talon Simulations, both headquartered in Orlando, Florida, are centers of military simulation and training. The city hosts I/ITSEC (the largest industry trade show for training, simulation and education) every year at the Orlando County Convention Center.
