question:What will be the battery life of Meta Quest 3?
Bosworth:Roughly the same as Quest 2, there may be additions or subtractions. At the same time I think we can always continue to improve [battery life], although of course it will vary based on how you use the device.
It's worth noting that even though the Quest 3 has the same battery life as the Quest 2, it does so while offering higher specs and a seemingly increased screen resolution of the 30%.
During the same AMA session, Bosworth also confirmed that despite the imminent release of Quest 3, the Quest Pro will continue to receive new software updates and improvements. This isn't exactly surprising news--Meta just recently released an update that increases CPU and GPU clock speeds for Quest 2 and Quest Pro.
However, Bosworth said later that the depth sensor included in Quest 3 may improve upon the computer vision depth model used on Quest Pro:
question:Quest 3 will have a depth sensor, but for computer vision, can the Pro's depth still be improved?
Bosworth:When you have a depth sensor, there is an additional source of truth. So, it probably works best when you're doing it on a headset with visual computer vision and a depth sensor running at the same time. Even so, you can still use depth sensors to train computer vision to improve in different conditions on headsets without depth sensors. So it should improve the whole process.
