The PC VR market has changed dramatically over the years. It used to be the focus of the entire industry, but with the advent of new headsets in different categories, developers and publishers began to divide their attention. Still, every year we see some great new games that add nuance to the VR experience in ways no other hardware can.
The beauty of this list of the best PC VR games is that even though some of the oldest titles on them are six years old, they're still some of the best quality and best-played titles in VR right now.
Most of these experiences can be found inOculus storeandSteamVRfound on , several of which also apply toViveport. Note, though, that we've included some Oculus exclusives on this list because we think those are too good to ignore. We've also included preview games on our list for the first time, because there are still some of the best PC VR titles in pre-release status.

Best PC VR Games – SteamVR and Oculus
25. Gallery 1 and Episode 2
We've combined Cloudhead Games' two compelling adventure series into one option, since the first episode is shorter and the first two episodes cost about the same as a regular VR game. Rooted in a Hensonian dark fantasy, The Gallery plunges you into a stunningly impossible world and crazy characters in search of your sister. Despite the game's age, its imaginative design makes it one of the best-playing and best-looking VR games out there. We just hope Cloudhead makes an episode 3 someday.

24. Arrogance
We have to say that the most attractive part of this VR sci-fi action-adventure game is not the gameplay, but its visual effects. Pride showcases some absolutely stunning scenery and environments, at times rivaling the graphics you'd expect from a AAA game.
Of course, the gameplay isn't quite on the same level. That doesn't mean it's bad, just a relatively average, enjoyable action-adventure shooter with relatively standard but repetitive combat and an average storyline. Still, it's a fun space shooter with high-quality visuals that showcases the potential of high-end PC VR technology in 2023.
23. The Fisherman's Tale
Fisherman's Tale remains one of the smartest and most compelling uses of VR to this day. You've no doubt heard its premise, and the game has strong recursive puzzles, and you can pass items to larger or smaller versions of yourself in single-player co-op by resizing your own body. It's a stunning feast, an entertaining fatherly story, and a heartwarming visual style that makes the game even more engaging. To this day, Fisherman's Tale remains one of the best PC VR games.

22. Homeless
The best thing to say about Outcast is that it doesn't always feel like an escape game. Its puzzles take advantage of VR's interactive capabilities, and its ambitious setting lets you jump between different time zones around the world in an instant. It's also one of the most graphically impressive games released in recent memory, a true showcase for PC VR capabilities. Don't miss Vagabond - one of the best PC VR games.

21. Song in the Smoke
There have been many good attempts to bring the survival genre to VR, but Song of Smoke stands out as the standout with its native mechanics, focused structure, and natural atmosphere. In this prehistoric wilderness, you can learn new skills and abilities by hunting and crafting while facing new challenges in each zone. If you're not a fan of the goal-seeking feel of some survival games, you'll love Song of Smoke's focused storyline.

20. Pavlov VR (Preview)
Valve isn't planning to bring Counter-Strike to VR, but luckily we can find a worthy replacement in Pavlov VR. Over the years of development, Pavlov VR has continued to grow and develop into an unrivaled fast-paced competitive shooter with a vast array of weapons and environments, spanning multiple eras, and new game modes being added all the time. There's still hope for Pavlov, and for fans of multiplayer games, it's one of the best PC VR titles out there.

19. Until you fall
Until You Fall doesn't focus as much on realistic melee physics as Saints and Sinners or Boneworkers, and it's all the better for that. This dungeon roguelite game with arcade elements uses on-screen indicators that force you to precisely time your defenses and attacks. Developer Schell Games has managed to break up the monotonous gameplay loop and make Till You Fall an addictive game. Considering the game is also a fun form of exercise, that's a good thing.
Platforms: Steam store, Viveport, Rift
18. Moss
A third-person VR game might not make sense at first, but Moss shows you what's possible. This action platformer is an excellent adventure in its own right, but what stands out even more is the bond you develop with protagonist Quill. Moss may be getting a little dated, but Moss: Book Two provides an excellent sequel to the original adventure.

17. Kayak VR: Miracle
Kayak VR: Miracles doesn't stand out on this list, but it's a truly relaxing, calming VR experience. As you'd expect, the game puts you in a virtual kayak to explore on four locations (Papagayo, Antartica, Bjørnøya, and Australia), with a variety of modes to choose from, including free roam or a more competitive Sexy online multiplayer mode.
The game doesn't have a full storyline or many game modes to choose from, but Kayak VR: Miracle stands out from the rest of the list as a truly relaxing, meditative VR experience.
16. Star Wars: Squadrons
We still can't believe Star Wars: Squadrons exists. A full-fledged Star Wars flight action game with a single-player story and a massive multiplayer component...and it's a VR game? Are we sure we're not dreaming? In any case, Squadron's highly immersive cockpit and intense space combat with enemies makes it the best choice in VR, making it one of the best PC VR games.
Platform: Steam store
15. Eleven Ball
Many sports cannot be fully replicated with current VR technology, but table tennis is an exception, and Eleven Balls: Table Tennis is its best presentation. Thanks to accurate physics and powerful multiplayer and single player options, Eleven Ball is the best VR table tennis game out there in our opinion, and we will never need another VR table tennis game.

14. Onward (Preview)
If Pavlov is the VR version of Counter-Strike, Onward is closer to a game like Arma, emphasizing the mechanical complexity that VR adds to the shooter genre. Even though it's still marked as a preview, Onward has grown like a full game over the years, and deservedly makes our list of the best PC VR games.
Platforms: Steam Store, Rift
13. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR
"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR" successfully moved the entire RPG to the headset, and fully used motion sensing controls. While the implementation isn't the deepest, that alone is enough to make it an experience you can't miss in VR. As well as giving you a strong sense of exploration, there are some really good parts of the game that are especially suited to VR, like when you meet a dragon for the first time or take a close look at the sword you're trying to get.

12. Rhythm Lightsaber
11. No Man's Sky VR
No Man's Sky goes the extra mile with its VR support. Hello Games has paid attention to making the VR integration feel smooth and natural, giving you an experience that almost feels like it was designed for VR from the ground up. Add to that the plethora of new features and upgrades implemented since the game's release - including a recent update to the VR experience - and it's hard to ignore No Man's Sky's place on lists of the best PC VR games.
10. Lonely Echo
You could stick Lone Echo 2 with this pick for the full experience, but considering that's likely to be a rather expensive proposition, we'll focus on the groundbreaking original and its free-to-play multiplayer for now. The Lonely Echo paved the way for weightless movement in VR and set a bar for PC VR visuals that probably still hasn't been surpassed to this day. It's slow paced, but the focus on building the characters' connections with those around them pays off, along with a huge spectacle of it all. We will always praise Lonely Echo as one of the best PC VR games in years.

9. The Wrath of Asgard
Wrath of Asgard may not be on par with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, but in our opinion, it's more focused on native VR swordplay and character development than either of those VR games. It's a well-crafted three-part Norse adventure that captures the RPG genre's heart and brings it to full glory with the power of PC VR, helping it beat the competition for best PC VR games.

8. Temples in the eyes
Temple in the Eye is one of the best examples of a game that puts VR-first design first, making it an exciting platforming adventure. The game places you outside a large temple, with a whip in your right hand and a torch in your left hand, and you begin to progress deeper within the temple by solving puzzles and jumping over obstacles.
Every movement in "Temples in the Eye" is a real, physical movement. Some clever design gimmicks mean you'll always be able to stay within the boundaries and never run out of room to move around – sort of like Tea for God. On PC VR, this requires more cable management than a wireless system like the Quest, but the games are still exciting to play and very well designed. But beware: it requires at least 2x2 meters of play space.
7. Boneworks
Of all the physics-driven VR combat and puzzle games out there, Boneworks is arguably the most well-crafted and impressive. Its single-player campaign offers a lot of fun sandboxing, allowing you to try out maneuvers like swinging a robot's legs, or wiping mindless zombies with a broomstick. Or you can rely on classic gunplay and find an accurate shooter. Boneworks is a great PC VR game and a sample of the future of interactivity in VR.

6. Pistol Whip
Rhythm games are plentiful in VR, but Pistol Whip is the most creative and best option. A game where you shoot targets to the beat of the music and dodge bright neon obstacles, making this game a sensory delight that requires real skill to master. With new updates constantly being rolled out, Pistol Whip has taken a comfortable spot on this list of the best PC VR games.

5.Demeo
Fancy a board game night in VR? Then Demeo will give you a concept for almost everything you need. It's an awesome co-op dungeon adventure turn-based RPG to play with friends that lets you roll the dice to tackle tricky levels. But you can also resize the game to your liking, adding an extra dimension to this awesome social VR experience. Plus, the game's base mode has seen a plethora of new content and expanded campaigns since launch, so there are now more Demeos for you to play than ever before.

4. Superhot VR
Until we find a shooter that's as meticulously designed as this one, we're going to keep giving Superhot VR the best title. It maintains immersion and uses your whole body in ways you can't do in the flat-screen version. The game's "time moves as you move" mechanic is still a lot of fun to this day, and the game strikes the perfect balance between zany action and stylish stunts.

3. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners
Skydance Interactive's The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is a must-play VR game that offers the best design and user interaction experience in VR. Released in 2020, the game is "a brutal zombie apocalypse -- a living, breathing virtual ruin with Boneworks-style physics-based combat that easily eclipses its experimental lows." Physics-based combat sets the bar for VR zombie games. The game puts you in the remnants of the ruins of New Orleans and lets you fight legions of the undead, offering a solid and rich VR campaign with a variety of side quests and the ability to kill zombies with a spoon, making it the market One of the deepest native VR games on the market.

2. Vertigo 2
Vertigo 2 is one of the best PC VR-exclusive experiences yet, and an intoxicating example of game design with VR first in mind. What's even more impressive is that it's being developed by almost one indie developer - Zach Tsiakalis-Brown of Zulubo Productions.
The game pays homage to Valve's classics and landmark VR titles, but doesn't replicate them. Instead, it moves forward, creating an impressive single-player experience similar to Half-Life: Alice. With tactile weapons, inventive enemies, and an engaging, narrative-driven campaign, it's the best example of PC VR still delivering great games in 2023.
1. Half-Life: Alyx
It might not be Half-Life 3, but there's no doubt that Half-Life: Alyx is a brand new adventure that's never been done before in the series and is comparable to the previous entries in the series. We gave it our highest rating in 2020: "Whatever it is, Half-Life: Alyx almost always does it best." Playing as Alyx Vance, you travel through City 17 as you fight to defeat the pushing floor Throwing force field shooters to the ceiling continues to design an adventure fully designed for VR, relying on classic elements and introducing many new features. It's 10+ hours of AAA-level exquisite, full VR gunplay, puzzle solving and narrative design, allowing you to enjoy unforgettable moments in the headset. Half-Life: Alyx is easily the best PC VR game to date, and we hope to see more from Valve.
