Humans adds post-game mechanics to stage creation tools

The Terran Creator now has more tools and mechanics at your disposal.

Spoiler alert: This article discusses some of the later mechanics of Sequence 7 of the Human story mode. If you haven't played the game yet and don't want to be spoiled by the mechanics before you play, it's best not to read on yet.

The Humankind 1.07 content update will add the machines from the 7th sequence to the game's stage creator. This means you can now add turrets, drones, lasers, and laser blocks to your levels, along with various triggers and options to tweak their behavior.

Enhance stated that some late story or mechanics were initially kept in place to prevent spoilers and to give creators in our community a chance to familiarize themselves with the tools. However, they're fully available now, so you can use the machine to make your own levels and share them with other players in the community to play.

Humans released earlier this year on PC and consoles, with optional virtual reality support available on the PC version and PSVR 2. Unfortunately, however, Stage Creator still isn't properly supported in VR mode. Unlike the rest of the game, when you open Human's stage creator in VR mode, it switches to a 2D flat display and uses a controller or keyboard and mouse to manipulate input.

While it was nice to see these post-production mechanics added to the stage creator, the opportunity to fully support the stage creator in VR was missed. Not only will this make VR mode function the same as flat mode, but it will also leverage dynamic controls for an easier and more tactile level design experience than via controller or keyboard and mouse input.

Still, if you're looking for a well-designed VR puzzler, Humankind is worth checking out--read our review below.
