Career Simulator and Vacation Simulator remain two of the most popular games on VR headsets. The former was first released in 2016 for use with the HTC Vive, but is now available on nearly every other major VR platform, including Quest and PSVR headsets.
Owlchemy Labs has added another major VR platform to its roster with the release of a career simulator and a vacation simulator on the PICO headset.
PICO helmets, like the PICO 4, are made by ByteDance (the Chinese tech giant behind TikTok). The headset is sold in China, as well as a few other regions (including Japan, Korea, Europe, etc.), and offers two different storefronts for the software -- one dedicated to the Chinese market and one for other regions.
Owlchemy's announcement on Twitter specifically referenced the release on the Chinese PICO helmet, Owlchemy CEO Andrew Eiche said in a tweetBoth games are confirmed to be available on non-Chinese PICO stores as well.
Owlchemy Labs is an experienced virtual reality studio dedicated to driving the popularization of virtual and augmented reality design standards. More recently, the studio has been showing off its work on designing for hand tracking as a primary input method. In addition to being at the heart of upcoming multiplayer VR games, Owlchemy sees this emerging input method as part of a push to mass-market virtual reality.
