The Platform Integrity Testing API "detects whether your application server is interacting with an untampered VR device and ensures that your application is authentic." The API can be used for "hardware-based application blocking" or as a " "anti-piracy" measures, and other uses.
A Meta article written for developers explains: "As the Meta Quest ecosystem continues to grow, both the number of applications distributed and the size of the Meta Quest community will become increasingly important in order to provide safe and secure user experience, it is important to establish a consistent method of verifying application integrity."
The API is also touted as helping to secure device authentication and secure financial and enterprise application data. Meta positions the tool as "enhancing the security of applications for Quest 2, Quest Pro, and the upcoming Quest 3 headsets."
