Celebrate Women's World Cup with new Snapchat augmented reality filters
Every women's national team can get up close and personal at the global fan selfie experience.
FIFA Women's World CupIt has arrived and fans are cheering on their favorite teams. To commemorate this moment celebrated by sports fans around the world,Snapchatlaunched a new series of augmented reality (AR) experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in it and feel the exciting events.
The partnership provides fans with a host of new immersive experiences and creative tools created by female artists and developers, adding even more magic to one of the world's greatest sporting events.
"Through immersive content coverage, creator collaborations and new and innovative AR experiences, Snapchat users will have unprecedented opportunities to express their love for football," said Emma Wakely, Snap Sports Partner.
FIFA have already reported that they have sold more than one million tickets for the 2023 Women's World Cup, meaning this year's tournament will surpass ticket sales for the 2019 Women's World Cup as the most attended independent women's sporting event. The first two games alone attracted 117,921 spectators.
In America, fans are always looking for new ways to show their support. To bring you closer to the game and the U.S. Women's National Team, Snapchat launches its first everUSWNT team tracking footage, allowing you and other fans to track team stats, catch up on the latest news, learn interesting facts about players, and get live updates on the game.
It wasn't just the US team that was enjoying the Snapchat treatment, however. The other teams competing in the World Cup will also be represented through a series of global AR lenses, allowing Snapchat users around the world to show their country pride:
- Global fan selfie experience: Find selfie shots of participating countries through the "Journey Around the World" lens. According to Snap, the lenses in it were created byVideo Orbit StudioMade by the female lens creators of , a female-led XR design studio in the Netherlands.
- FIFA lens:Can't decide which team to support? fifaFancestryThe questionnaire is an augmented reality lens that asks you a series of questions to decide.
- USWNT jersey try-on shots:Try on the official 2023 U.S. Women's National Team jersey using Snap's real-time apparel transformation technology.
- Togethxr AR Lens: this is withTogetherBrand new lens launched in partnership with, Togetherthxr is a media and commerce company dedicated to advocating for equality and diversity in women's sport. This shot was made by the aforementioned VideOrbit Studio.
Additionally, Snapchat is launching a whole new set of creative tools that allow anyone to enhance their fan experience throughout the game!
- Bitmoji:The update is a partnership with Adidas, and it allows your Bitmoji avatar to wear official soccer uniforms.
- Official jerseys for Colombia, Costa Rica, Italy, Jamaica, Philippines, Sweden, Argentina, Germany, Japan and Spain are available atAdidas Fan Gearfound in the section.
- Officials of Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Portugal and the United Statesuniformcan also be used.
- Additional national team kits for China, Denmark, Ireland, Haiti, Morocco, Panama, South Africa, Switzerland, Vietnam and Zambia are available atBitmoji Fan Gear Sectionturn up.
- Stickers and Filters:Add women's national team stickers and filters to your Snaps, including Australia, France, Norway, USA, Sweden, Nigeria, New Zealand and Spain.
- Cameos:Cameos are available to each participating team. You'll also have access to official national team kit made with Adidas in partnership with Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Philippines, Spain and Sweden.
However, the campaign did not end there. Snapchat also lets you catch all the targets, highlights and behind-the-scenes action through coverage from media partners and content creators.
- US American Football App Integration: Post US Football news to your Snapchat Story right from the US Football app. New lenses let you preview articles and capture reactions.
- Shows:Togethxr is producing a twice-weekly show on the Stories page called "Offside Special" around women's soccer. This includes departure moments and various storylines.
- ITV in the UK and Optus Sport in Australia offer World Cup highlights in the Stories tab.
