MetaMeta confirmed its Connect event will feature a keynote address from CEO Mark Zuckerberg on September 27.
The two-day event will take place Sept. 27-28, and will include a "limited" in-person experience at Meta's headquarters in Menlo Park, California, while streaming live on "various social channels." Meta said the event will offer "a deep dive into new Meta products (referring to Quest 3)," as well as "the latest AI and XR innovations."
Meta has confirmed some details about Quest 3. The head-mounted display is 40 percent thinner thanks to a flat lens, has more than twice the performance of the GPU, and features a dual-color camera and depth sensor for mixed reality and scene understanding. Meta also unveiled the new Touch Plus controllers and explained how they can be tracked without a ring or body camera. It will start shipping this fall, starting at $500.
Zuckerberg himself has been releasing key updates since the first standalone VR platform was first announced at Connect in 2018. It looks likely that the 2023 event will follow that trend as well, with his keynote address on Sept. 27.
