Two years after crowdfunding campaign ends, Lynx-R1 enters production

The French startup has announced that the Lynx-R1 standalone AR/VR headset is now in production after a two-year crowdfunding campaign. "The first units of Lynx-R1 are currently being produced by our manufacturer, Compal," the company said, an update on delays to the project. The Lynx was originally planned to ship in April 2022, but was eventually pushed back to the March-April 2023 period.

The helmet is equipped with two 1600×1600 resolution LCD panels with a 90Hz refresh rate, and uses two dedicated IR cameras on the front of the helmet for Ultraleap hand tracking, the main input method of the device, and Lynx is developing its own controller, likely to be shown later this year. Like other standalone headsets, the Lynx R1 runs a modified version of Android and supports OpenXR content.
