In June of this year, VR developer Mighty Coconut announced that he had partnered with VR accessory provider Hello Real to launch aMeta The official putter accessory for Walkabout Mini Golf, a VR miniature golf game for Rift headsets, is now available.
The Walkabout Grip-to-Putter is a limited edition accessory with a variety of unique features designed to enhance your virtual golf gaming experience. These include adjustable hardware triggers, comfort grips, self-tensioning cord straps, and an interchangeable grip system. Each putter also comes with an in-game accessory.
Mighty Coconut kindly provided us with a sample putter for us to try out for ourselves, and after our brief use of it, we can confidently say that the Walkabout Grip-to-Putter is a great addition to any self-proclaimed VR golfer. appendix.
The installation process is very simple. Touch and Touch Pro controllers slide easily into dedicated holders. Instructions are provided on how to attach the controller securely via the string to the putter's "finger lock" and quick-change grips.
Then, I needed to calibrate the device by accessing the Walkabout Mini Golf game settings. After selecting the "Custom Grip" option and hitting "Calibrate," I simply moved the controller into the correct position while keeping the grip button pressed.
According to Mighty Coconut, the official launch of Walkabout Putter will offer a dedicated option, so the process will be even easier.
At this point, I'm ready to start putting. Almost immediately, I noticed an improvement in my performance. The device features purpose-built weights designed to simulate the feel of swinging a real putter, and a comfortable grip that allows you to play golf for extended periods of time without any uncomfortable blisters.
The Walkabout Putter also comes with a dedicated trigger that allows you to easily interact with the grip function on the Touch controllers. Holding down the grip button in Walkabout Mini Golf turns your putter transparent, allowing you to practice your swing before taking your final shot, so you'll be using this trigger a lot.
Another interesting feature I noticed while testing the device was haptic feedback. As I traversed exotic golf courses like "Laser Lair" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth," I could feel the putter make contact with the ball, just as I do with the Touch controllers. While this might sound like a small addition, it's these details that really immerse you in the experience.
