British progressive metal band Tesseract are developing a SteamVR sci-fi adventure game based on War of Being, which is available for early access today.
Developed by a small, independent team of three, God of War explores concepts from Tesseract's upcoming album of the same name. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, with optional support for PC VR, the game takes place in "The Strangeland," where you'll "meet mysterious and bizarre characters, solve puzzles, and unlock new music." Your goal is to find the audio file for the band's second single and form the full song by the end of the game.
God of War currently only has six explorable maps, and at full launch, a Steam FAQ promises "more levels, inventory management, gameplay elements, backstories, and narratives, and an entire collection of them into the game." ". Tesseract also revealed in the press release that it plans to crowdfund on Kickstarter in the future.
Daniel Tompkins, lead singer of Tesseract, said in a statement: "Games have always played a big part in my life and have always inspired my music projects and albums. Being able to make a computer game based on your own music It's a dream come true."
God of War is out now on Steam Early Access for PC VR for around $6 (£4.99). According to Steam's FAQ, Tesseract plans to officially release the game in late 2024.
