For a long time, Schell Games developer Jared Mason has been wandering the aisles of supermarkets, rather than shopping specifically, thinking about the villain of his studio's next VR game.
"What would she say? What kind of attitude does she have?"
Mason is a senior developer at Schell Games, and players may be familiar with his voice in the "I Expect You to Die" series of games as the "commander" who guides players on deadly missions. Although people play the series to solve room-like puzzles, one of the game's main features is the impressive faux-007 opening theme at the beginning.
For the third game in the burgeoning series, the developers wanted to create a richer environment and a more refined image of the villain, Dr. Roxana Prism. More effort was also put into I Expect You to Die 3's opening track "Gears in the Machine" to achieve this goal, which is why Mason was filtering out potential lyrics in his head as he walked through the supermarket. , while humming them.
We previously reported that Schell Games is trying to give Dr. Prism a more complex villain image, and for Mason in the supermarket, he was able to accurately express the player's perception of Dr. Prism at the beginning of "I Expect You to Die 3" Some challenges have been encountered in the perception of poetic metaphors.
Here is part of the lyrics:
all that's left is who's right
who pays for their sins
don't back down, don't give up
no longer satisfied with just good enough
i have a world to create
break the unbreakable rules
I'll build castles, I'm queen
You're just a cog in my machine
Graphic designers Jeff Hoffman and Justin Calder for the opening track, produced by Frank Lubsey and Bay Area Sound, performed by Dynamedion. Lubsey said, "Although we did a good job with the lyrics, the melody, etc., it didn't really come out until we had Haley Reinhart's voice."
You can listen to the full composition of the opening song in the YouTube video below, or after the game launches on August 17th viaQuest 2VR experience to.
