Virtual Space is a new productivity app that envisions what a virtual notebook could look like in a mixed reality workspace.
You can watch a demonstration of the soft pass space in the embedded trailer above, and the best illustration is presented visually.
While this isn't the first productivity app we've seen on a headset, the approach is slightly different. Apps like Workrooms or Immersed can bring a computer into a virtual workspace, but you don't need a computer in a virtual space, you just need a VR headset, your hands, and a keyboard.
SoftPass will give you a virtual workspace where you can take notes, organize photos, conduct research, and organize your thoughts in mixed reality.
According to the developers, Softpass Space is designed to "use perception, cognition, and memory to help you find clarity in the most complex intellectual problems." The app will allow you to lay out items in a workspace that can be zoomed and moved around the environment. Provides input suggestions for hand tracking, and also supports touch controllers.
When designing the app, SoftTrans found that a virtual keyboard doesn't provide the required "typing precision, familiarity, and speed," so you'll need to connect a Bluetooth keyboard to your headset to enter text.
In addition to writing notes, you can use the app's built-in web browser to search the web yourself and copy pictures into your notes and workspaces. Ruanchuan space also supports "artificial intelligence-based" search query results.
The virtual space's website also confirms that files in your workspace won't be stuck there, that soft space will support familiar file formats such as PDF and text markup formats, and that files can be imported and exported to Dropbox.
The site also mentions that some form of collaboration tool is on the development roadmap, which will allow teams, clients and collaborators in the soft media space to feel like they are actually working together.
Ruanchuan Space originally released an alpha version on App Lab earlier this year, but is now listed as "coming soon" on the main Quest store. All current Quest headsets, including the original, will be supported, but Ruanchuan Space said that the best user experience is currently obtained on the Quest Pro.
软传空间的到来正值Meta在即将推出的Quest 3头戴设备上大力推动混合现实的关注。在这款新头戴设备问世后,软传空间很可能是更多面向混合现实的体验之一。
