The 2004 classic plays even better in virtual reality.

Crytek's first-person shooter Far Cry can now be played in virtual reality using motion controls, thanks to a third-party mod from German developer Holger Frydrych. You may remember another popular piece from Frydrych,Half-Life 2 VR Mod, allowing you to experience Valve's iconic action shooter in 6DoF (six degrees of freedom) virtual reality.

Far Cry VR v0.5 is still being improved, you can use the motion controller to play the game completely from start to finish. This includes stabilizing the weapon by holding it with both hands, and actually swinging the machete. The mod also supports indoor somatosensory virtual reality, allowing you to move your body in the virtual forest to get a more realistic experience.

There's even support for left-handed operation and a seated mode for a more casual (but still violent) experience.
