Earlier this year, Google announced that it would combine its geospatial creation platform withadobe Aero整合。地理空间创建平台由Google Maps Platformand ARCore support, providing accurate real-world positioning, scene semantics and other functions in Unity and Adobe Aero.

The integration enables developers to build, preview, and publish 3D content and AR experiences that are anchored in the real world and accessible to anyone, and according to RPR, provides an opportunity for developers and brands to discover and the ways of participating in them have evolved to become richer and more varied.

Patrick Johnson, CEO and Founder of Rock Paper Reality, said: “The potential for any brand to tell a story outside of a traditional store or page is enormous, and improving the way audiences discover and engage with products in the digital realm is critical to a growing audience. With multiple immersive domains and the use of headsets, it has never been more important to have a comprehensive 3D strategy, especially for younger generations where 3D worlds have become the norm.”

This experience by RPR and Adobe was created using a range of Adobe products, including Adobe Sampler, Substance Painter, Substance Stager, Adobe Dimension, Photoshop and Illustrator. Additionally, the project used Google's Virtual Positioning Service (VPS) for accurate positioning.

Preston Platt, Chief Technology Officer and Founder of Rock Paper Reality, said: "Leveraging Adobe's powerful tools has transformed our workflow, taking us to new heights of speed and efficiency. Among them, the Substance suite has become a must-have in our toolbox. An integral part of this, it allows us to do precise texturing with Painter, quickly sample textures with Sampler, and seamlessly preview our projects with Stager."

RPR said that thanks to Google's virtual location service (VPS), products were accurately anchored so that they could be discovered by visitors. The company also noted that nearly all of the work could be done remotely, and that only one designer visited the site in person during the entire project, thanks to the VPS.

The Japantown immersive experience is now ready for San Francisco visitors to discover and will be showcased at Adobe Max 2023, where RPR's Chief Technology Officer Preston Platt will teach a workshop on geospatial technologies.
