Most people are familiar with traditional scale models, i.e., three-dimensional structural models that accurately replicate the design, proportions and features of a building. The term "scale" denotes the ratio between the size of the model and the size of the actual object. However, Illumetry points out that holographic scale models are similar to physical objects, but exist in a virtual three-dimensional space.

How does Illumetry EOS work?

Illumetry EOS technology is based on the company's MotionParallax3D principle, a term used by Illumetry to refer to the creation of photorealistic volumetric objects on a flat surface to provide a true 3D experience. The stable illusion of a virtual hologram is achieved by constantly updating the projection based on the user's perspective.

The Illumetry EOS device is equipped with a proprietary tracking system that includes four cameras, which the company says are tracked to within millimeters of accuracy. The user's position relative to the device can be determined by wearing Illumetry's precisely tracked stereoscopic glasses. The tracking system provides over 170 degrees of angular coverage.

Users can use their hands to naturally interact with digital content, or operate with an iPad to zoom, rotate and change content on Illumetry EOS devices with slight movements.

Illumetry added that the Illumetry EOS, unlike projection technology, does not require dark rooms and is suitable for spaces with standard lighting, such as sales offices, exhibition halls, galleries and museums. The company also noted that industries such as AEC and real estate could benefit from the device because of its ability to display highly detailed holographic scale models of buildings and construction projects. 

In launching the new holographic display device, Illumetry said, "Holographic scale models have the potential to redefine the way works of art and culture are displayed.The Illumetry EOS allows for full exploration from all angles while the virtual holographic effect remains stable. Its high level of detail enables a full presentation of the object, replicating the effect of a physical display."

Illumetry EOS supports most common 3D engines, including Unity, Illumetry said. in addition, integration with other 3D engines is possible through the company's API and SDK.
