Red Matter 2 has released an update for Quest 3, delivering "console-level" enhancements to standalone virtual reality.
虽然MetaWhile Meta's new headset won't be released until October 10th, Vertical Robot released a Quest 3 update for Red Matter 2 today. Changes such as increased rendering resolution, 4K textures, and dynamic shadows were previously outlined, but now the studio has explained it in further detail. Vertical Robot said on Quest 3 that this update upgrades light and shadow filtering and textures to "console level."
Other enhancements include anisotropic filtering to improve clarity and mesh LOD improvements to ensure a "more coherent visual experience." Frame rate adaptability is also supported, dynamically adjusting Red Matter 2's frame rate to switch between 72fps and 90fps during combat. Additionally, the Quest 2 version now supports dynamic resolution and also includes achievements.
It's a major upgrade from what we called "the most impressive visual showcase on Quest 2" in last year's Red Matter 2 review, although Vertical Robot stopped short of calling it as good as the PSVR 2 version . The studio said "we're closer than ever" between the two platforms, but noted that the PSVR 2 version features native 120fps support and a bloom pass.
《Red Matter 2》现在可在Meta Quest平台、PC VR和PICO 4上使用。
