2023年10月5日 –Ready Player Me, an avatar platform for the Metaverse that allows users to explore virtual worlds with a consistent identity, today announced the expansion of its developer tools with the launch of geometry-aware AI textures that will enable seamless mapping of textures to 3D models .
Ready Player Me launched its Asset Designer as part of its developer studio in early September. Asset Designer allows designers to create new modular garments using PSD templates and software like Photoshop. With today's expansion, new tools in Asset Designer leverage artificial intelligence to streamline the process of creating avatar clothing. According to Ready Player Me, the technology was developed by training a custom generative model to retexture assets using stabilizing diffusion and control networks.
The company says that unlike past AI-generated assets that tended to produce random patterns on 3D models, Ready Player Me’s AI is now able to understand the intricacies of each asset, including the placement of pockets, buttons and stitching. The new AI feature is able to map generated textures onto the avatar to accurately match these elements on the avatar, resulting in an enhanced level of realism that the company says is “comparable to professional human artists.”
“We are innovating in ways that have never been done before, a major breakthrough in AI-generated assets,” said Ready Player Me CEO Timmu Toke. “Our AI understands different parts of an asset just like an experienced artist, and creating assets that exhibit professional artistic features is a game-changing innovation. SIGGRAPH validates our groundbreaking work by embracing this novel approach in its 2023 showcase."
The above is one of the development toolset of Ready Player Me. The embeddable character creator is an end-to-end character system with thousands of customization options, allowing developers to embed character creation into existing Unity, Unreal , web and mobile applications, enabling users to create personalized avatars starting from a selfie.
Ready Player Me’s geometry-aware AI textures will now enable developers to choose from a variety of predefined styles or describe their own preferences, reducing the time and effort required to create custom content for their applications. The tool is now publicly available and can be used by developers and users without signing up for Ready Player Me.
“Ready Player Me offers the opportunity to simplify and enhance the developer toolset,” added Timmu Toke. “We are excited to offer this innovative, AI-driven approach that extends developers’ ability to create avatar clothing textures and manage custom content.” .With the advancement of this technology, developers will be able to deliver the highest level of end results.”
Ready Player Me noted that this latest update is a continuation of the company’s initiatives to use artificial intelligence to increase accessibility, enhance and simplify the development process, thus saving its resources, time and money to focus on creating excellent user experiences.
To further support these efforts, the company is also leveraging artificial intelligence to improve the avatar creation process, launching AI-generated avatar clothing generation, and introducing Copilot to assist developers seamlessly integrate the avatar platform into apps and games.
The company also said that as the technology becomes available, it envisions a future that clearly points to the growing popularity of user-generated content.
