Get your hands on it: Assassin's Creed Nexus promises impressive VR spin-off
Assassin's Creed Nexus appears to be on its way to becoming a strong virtual reality adaptation of the popular action-adventure game series. In addition to our recent demo preview, we conducted an interview to learn more. Here are our full impressions: this isn't the first time I've tried Assassin's Creed Nexus. A short demo at a pre-connect event gave me a quick introduction to the streets of Venice, but I didn't see much of what the world had to offer. I recently traveled to Ubisoft Leamington for a visit and once again played on Quest 3. While the full game includes three assassins-Connor, Ezio, and Cassadra-only two of Ezio's missions are playable. The ensuing feeling was like I was entering the Animus itself, watching the digital world come to life around me as I chose memories (quests) for the Venetian assassins. In Nexus, Abstergo Industries seeks out a lost Isu artifact that a trio of people inadvertently encountered, and you're the one working with the Brotherhood to stop them. Starting with a tutorial mission, I was pleasantly surprised by the similarities I felt during this first-person gameplay transition, especially in the parkour aspect. You can jump between pillars, swing across bars, grab onto pipes, and then pull on ledges to lift yourself up.
