Ma's report notes that Apple is hiring health experts to study whether the company can connect facial and eye tracking data to the Vision Pro's health-related features. To treat mental health issues, Ma writes, the Vision Pro could "display images and sounds that may improve the wearer's mood." At the time of the Vision Pro's launch, Apple showed off a "full-space" Positive Thinking app that can darken most areas of a room to "create a moment of peace."
Ma also writes that another feature that may be under consideration is the use of an eye-tracking camera to detect swollen blood vessels, which can be an early symptom of heart failure.
Apple has a strong focus on fitness and health with the Apple Watch. It can detect abnormal heart rates, irregular heart rhythms, low cardiorespiratory fitness, blood oxygen levels, falls and car accidents. The newer models can even take electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings.
In 2019, Tim Cook told CNBC that Apple's "biggest contribution" to health will be in healthcare.
