Quest 3 appears in October Steam Hardware Survey – but Virtual Desktop isn’t counted yet

Each month Steam provides a random sample of its user base with theSteam Hardware and Software Survey. If you accept, it will upload your PC specs and peripheral list to Valve and upload any headset used on SteamVR.

In the October sample of SteamVR users, Quest 3 had a usage rate of 0.151 TP3T, while Quest 2 had a usage rate of 39.691 TP3T and Quest Pro had a usage rate of 0.351 TP3T.

However, there are two important caveats to this 0.35% figure.

This means that the Quest 3 data in the Steam Hardware Survey primarily only includes users who use Link, and with the release date for Virtual Desktop's next update yet to be determined, this could remain the case until November.

Another caveat is that Quest 3 wasn't released until October 10, so there wasn't even a full month to contribute to the survey.

Overall, the percentage of Steam users with VR headsets dropped to a multi-year low of 1.23%. but this is likely due to an unusual increase in non-VR Simplified Chinese users on Steam, an issue that has affected survey results in the past.
