In case you don't know, ByteDance is the Chinese tech giant behind TikTok, which acquired PICO in mid-2021.While PICO had previously focused primarily on enterprise, less than a year after the acquisition it pushed its existing helmets as a beta for European consumers, followed by the launch of the PICO 4 a few months later.
Surprisingly, until now TikTok integration on PICO has been very limited. For example, you can upload screen recordings to TikTok, but you can't live stream them. Prior to this, in the regular PICO Video app, you could only swipe left and right and like videos in motion, with no access to most app features such as categories, search, comments or messages.
PICO's new TikTok app appears to be simply the unmodified regular 2D Android phone app floating in front of a giant virtual phone screen. You can hold down the joystick trigger to swipe, or use a joystick.

The PICO 4 is still not available in North America, and in Europe and Asia it no longer has the hardware specs advantage with the release of the Quest 3. Pricing for the 430 Euro Meta PICO 4 is close to that of the 350 Euro Meta Quest 2, and so is still an appealing option for some, especially given that it actually has an Elite Strap built in.
