“I invite you to attend this meeting today mainly because I want to communicate with you about PICO’s current business status and follow-up arrangements.
First of all, what we want to explain is that the organization needs to maintain the ability to focus on important work, and we will continue to adjust the organization based on the actual needs of the business.
Recently, we have carefully introduced the business and industry market conditions. We have the following basic judgment that the virtual reality industry is in a very early stage. Previously, we were optimistic about the development of the industry and market, but in fact it was not as fast as expected.
Since this year, we have also made some adjustments, which seem not to be timely and effective enough. After careful consideration, we plan to adjust the organization of PICO. The general idea is to better focus on long-term exploration and breakthroughs in hardware and core technologies. While maintaining normal operations, PICO will be more determined to strengthen investment in long-term value points and reduce investments in other aspects in the short term.
In terms of architecture, the mobile OS team will be integrated into the ByteDance product R&D and engineering architecture center platform, aiming to strengthen R&D investment and unified management of OS core technologies.
In terms of personnel, the development of new businesses focuses more on hardware and core technologies. In the short term, the size of some teams will decrease, mainly involving marketing and sales service studios, video, and platform business teams. For me, this is a very difficult decision, and we understand that this decision will inevitably affect some students. For those who are leaving and continue to stay, let's talk about the follow-up arrangements.
This week, we will begin to adjust and communicate based on the specific situations of different markets and teams. Business leaders and HRVPs will have specific communications with affected students. For the affected students, we will do our best to make appropriate arrangements, open up intra-company transfer opportunities, and provide reasonable compensation.
