MetaMeta has fully launched its new Quest For Business program, providing large-scale device management capabilities.
In fact, Facebook already has an enterprise platform for the original Oculus Quest called Oculus For Business, which is built on top of Workspace, Facebook's Slack and Teams competitor. But Oculus For Business is shutting down, and for the past year, Meta has been experimenting with an alternative program called Meta Quest For Business, which is now fully launched.
The Quest 2, Pro, and 3 are all available on this plan for the same price as consumer devices plus a monthly subscription fee. There are two levels of subscription fees to choose from, namely the individual model of $15 per unit per month or the shared model of Meta at $24 per unit per month.
In personal mode, each headset is intended for a specific person and comes with their own Meta account. The headset has access to the full Quest store, and users can customize its settings. Meta recommends using personal mode for use cases like remote collaboration, creativity, and design, where organizations hand out headsets to employees like laptops.
Personal mode supports existing enterprise user management platforms such as Microsoft InTune, VMware Workspace ONE and Ivanti UEM.
Shared mode works completely differently. The headset displays a vastly simplified system interface, with only apps selected remotely by the administrator available and settings pre-configured. Instead of logging in with an account, users use a per-session PIN provided by the administrator. Meta recommends using shared mode in situations such as employee training or large-scale presentations at trade shows.
Shared mode is managed through Meta's admin center and does not support external user management systems as there are no user accounts.
In both modes, administrators can set up the headset in batches through the Device Manager interface on the PC, and can remotely update the headset, install Wi-Fi certificates, or completely reset the device.
As part of the subscription, Meta offers businesses dedicated ticket-based support with a 24-hour SLA. But to actually use support for live chat, you need to pay for "Support Plus", which will incur additional subscription costs but has a 4-hour SLA and is also available on weekends.
