Generative AI gets started
(XR Navigation Network November 16, 2023) "Pokémon Go"NianticIt was recently announced that the AR game “Peridot” will begin using generative artificial intelligence to make the colorful aliens in the work more like cute cats.
Niantic originally released a new AR game, Peridot, in 2022, saying it was closer to true AR than any of its original projects.
"Peridot" feels like a cross between Tamagotchi and Pokémon Go, which were all the rage back in the day. The core of the game has players cultivating a creature called a Peridot and creating new unique combinations over time. The company says players will discover a plethora of unique combinations based on Peridot's breeding methods and the characteristics of its parents.
Now, to further enhance Peridot's vividness and lovability, Niantic says it will use generative artificial intelligence. Among them, the Niantic algorithm will analyze real-world objects captured by the phone's camera during the game, then convert them into words and customize them for Llama 2 to interpret.
Each pet has its own personality traits, and LLM will teach you how the pet interacts with the world around it based on that specific personality type and real-world objects. In this way, Peridot becomes more realistic.
According to Niantic, the application of AI will allow games to better utilize underutilized animation assets. Of course, the specific effects have yet to be evaluated.
