Vrgineers’ latest MR headset is equipped with AMD + Nvidia chips to improve performance

Among them, XTAL 3 CAVU utilizes a 24Mpix image sensor connected to AMD Xilinx FPGA PCIe16x via optical cable, specifically designed to calculate high-resolution mixed reality images within 1 millisecond. In addition, with the latestNVIDIA The Quadro RTX A6000 GPU's direct connection bypasses the CPU, minimizing overall latency. Quadro RTXA600 is fully dedicated to virtual reality computing, saving resources and improving performance.

Vrgineers commented: “By combining AMD XILINX FPGA with NVIDIA Quadro, we have found a way to provide a much-needed performance boost for mixed reality, and achieve much lower latency and power consumption.”

The team further states that XTAL 3 CAVU uses precision-engineered carbon, demonstrating a delicate balance of strength, lightness and durability. It is ideal for high-performance industry applications such as pilot training. This design ensures the headset is lighter than ever and sets new standards for comfort and performance.

The headset will be available for purchase through select partners in 2024. For less demanding scenarios, Vrgineers also offers an improved version of the XTAL 3 NEO mixed reality headset.
