Quest Pro mixed reality performance improvements
When real-world perspective is activated on the Quest headset, the system automatically reduces maximum CPU and GPU clock speeds to offset the increased heat and energy load on the DSP processing multiple camera inputs. This means developers have less performance to work with, so mixed reality apps or modes support lower graphics and performance than full VR.
In the v60 update, Meta specifically reduced the Quest Pro's CPU and GPU slowdowns.
Meta says Quest Pro performance improves by up to 34% of CPU performance and up to 19% of GPU performance in mixed reality experiences compared to v59 and before.
3 new home environments
Meta is also launching three new environments in Horizon Home for Quest.
- Blue Hill Gold Mine "Let your cowboy boots stand in the West again"
- Storybook "Put you in a handmade pop-up book"
- Lakeside Peak "Showing you the majestic view of mountains covered with snow in the distance"
At first glance, Lakeside Peak's visual fidelity appears to be higher than most of Horizon Home's environments to date, possibly influenced by Apple's VisionPro接近逼真的沉浸式环境的启发。
Social profile interoperability
Finally, when browsing other people's social profiles in Quest v60, Meta says you will now see apps that both you and the other person own and use, rather than just mutual friends from before.
