Neko Atsume Purrfect感觉像是VR新手的一个很好的入门体验。这款游戏今天在QuestPosted here, here are our impressions of the experience:
Hit-Point's popular mobile collecting cat game is still going strong almost a decade later, so it's no surprise that Neko Atsume is launching in VR. Previously, I had called this the second VR adaptation of the game 'Neko Atsume' after 2018's PlayStation VR, but I now realize that wasn't entirely accurate. With over 40 cats and support for mixed reality, Purrfect is closer to an expanded version.
Purrfect's mission is to find cats and record them in a cat book, although it's not a game that can be "beaten." Playful animals like cats are not interested in open spaces, so attracting them requires "goodies" such as food or toys. Among the wide variety of toys such as balls, cushions, sashimi, etc., you can keep them at home. Watch cats become fascinated with laser pointers as they chase that elusive red dot, often leaving fish (currency) behind when they leave.
Toys can be purchased via the in-game tablet, allowing you to conveniently select unlocked items with the press of a menu button. The tablet's camera feature saves these snaps directly to your Quest's screenshot library. It's a nice idea, although the image sizes are disappointingly small once you download them into the Quest mobile app.
If the cat is busy with a toy, pressing the Y button summons it over so you can give it more direct attention. It's sweet to hear the sound of them being held in my ears, and it brings a little pleasure to hold them. Even better, Purrfect also supports hand tracking control, so hand clapping feels very natural. If you register a specific cat as your favorite in the Cat Book, they will also come more often.
My biggest criticism so far is that Purrfect is quite limited. Items can only be placed in specific locations, and teleportation movement within the house is limited to three places. However, this simplicity arguably makes it a good introductory game for new VR users, there's nothing complicated here and it's comfortable.
The Mixed Reality mode on Quest 3 - which wasn't available on Quest 2 or Quest Pro - is by far the highlight for me, and it offers a simplified but enjoyable experience. Mixed reality only lets you interact with a cat and within your game space you can add a back door back into the VR world, a cat door and different wall paintings. This is one of the best uses of mixed reality gaming I've seen on Quest, and watching these fluffy creatures play is almost therapeutic.
There's something wonderfully fun about Neko Atsume Purrfect that strikes me. Hit-Point has crafted this virtual cat playground for VR, and its ease of entry makes it a much better fit for Quest than it would be on PSVR.With its simple gameplay, adorable visuals, and delightful mixed-reality support, Purrfect feels like the ideal experience for VR newbies.
Neko Atsume Purrfect is available now on the Meta Quest platform for $20.
