(XR Navigation Network 2023年12月19日)三星电子今天发布了两个新的ISOCELL图像传感器,专门为XR和机器人设计:飞行时间传感器ISOCELL Vizion ISOCELL63Dand the global shutter sensor Vizion 931.

Samsung said, "Samsung ISOCELL Vizion ISOCEL63D Vizion 931 with Robotics and Extended Reality Advanced Sensor Technology (XR) awaiting future high-tech applications is critical. With our rich history of technological innovation, we are committed to advancing image sensormarketof rapid expansion."

Samsung Announces Two ISOCELL Vizion Sensors Customized for XR and Other Use Cases

ISOCELL Vizion 63D: Designed to Capture High-Resolution 3D Images with Excellent Detail

Tof传感器的原理类似于蝙蝠在黑暗中使用回声定位导航:距离和深度是通过检测光束发射到物体并返回传感器的时间来计算的。

The Samsung ISOCELL Vizion 63D serves as an indirect time-of-flight (iToF) sensor that senses its surroundings in three dimensions by detecting the phase difference between the emitted and reflected beams. The 63D sensor offers excellent accuracy and clarity, making it ideal for use in the service sector and industrial robots, where it is critical for XR equipment to have high resolution and accurate depth detection.

The ISOCELL Vizion 63D is Samsung's first itoF sensor with an integrated depth-aware hardware image signal processor (ISP). With its innovative single-chip design, it can accurately capture 3D depth information without the help of other chips and consumes 40 percent less power compared to the ISOCELL Vizion with the 33D. This sensor can also perform high-speed image processing at 320 frames per second at QVGA medium resolution (320 x 240) to meet the high demand for display resolution in commercial and industrial markets.

Referring to the pixel size of the industry's smallest iToF sensor, the ISOCELL Vizion 63D has a pixel size of only 3.5㎛ in 1/6.4 "Optical Format" at Video Graphics Array (VGA)-class resolution (640)×480) for a variety of Portable devices.

With Backside Scattering Technology (BST) to increase the sensor's quantum efficiency, the Vizion 63D increases to 38% at 940 nanometer (nm) infrared wavelengths, approaching the industry's highest level of quantum efficiency. This enhances sensitivity and reduces noise, resulting in sharper image quality with minimal motion blur.

In addition, the ISOCELL Vizion 63D supports both flood (short-range high-resolution) and spot (long-range) illumination modes, increasing the measurable distance range from 5 to 10 meters.

ISOCELL Vizion 931: Innovative, Accurate Capture of Dynamic Moments, Innovative Dynamic Moments

The ISOCELL Vizion 931 is a global shutter image sensor designed specifically to capture dynamic moments, even with fast-moving objects, without the jelly effect. Unlike roll shutter sensors that scan a scene line by line from top to bottom in a "rolling" fashion, global shutter sensors capture the entire scene at once, or "globally," in a manner similar to the imaging of the human eye. This allows the ISOCELLLL Vizion 931 to capture clear images of objects without distortion, making it ideal for applications such as Extended Motion Tracking Reality (XR) devices.

The Vizion 931 with 1:VGA resolution (640 x 640) is designed to pack more pixels in a smaller shape and size, making it a high-quality option for iris recognition. It can also detect subtle movements such as facial expressions and gestures in head-mounted display devices such as the XR.

The ISOCELL Vizion 931 also combines Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) at 850 nm to achieve near industry-leading quantum efficiency (nm) at infrared wavelengths up to 60%. In addition to the BST used in the ISOCELL Vizion 63D, an insulating layer between pixels maximizes light absorption.

The Vizion 931 supports multiple connections, with up to four cameras seamlessly connected to the application processor via a single wire. The sensors minimize wiring, providing device manufacturers with more design flexibility.

Samsung said ISOCELL Vizion ISOCEL63D Vizion The 931 sensor is currently sampling to OEMs worldwide.
