As a comprehensive real estate company, CBRE serves clients in a range of fields, from design and build to repair and remodeling, among others. In order to give their clients the best possible service and complete related construction work efficiently, this company has been focusing on investing in advanced technology, such as the Microsoft HoloLens.MicrosoftHoloLens.
CBRE has perfected its collaboration with OEMs and on-site troubleshooting capabilities. They understand the importance of keeping labs running efficiently. Lab equipment downtime can destroy valuable samples, delay research, and cost companies countless dollars for engineering site visits and new lab equipment.
This is where CBRE willHoloLens
In one case, CBRE had an international pharmaceutical client with multiple large R&D and manufacturing sites in Europe and the U.S. for which the company needed to provide system improvement services. The team trained field engineers through HoloLens and helped the other side save more than 112 days of system downtime, resulting in 6 million previously unrecoverable samples over an 18-month period.
This is a service support program unique to CBRE. CBRE field engineers are trained by the original equipment manufacturer on how to quickly diagnose and fix the most common problems scientists encounter when using their equipment. Engineer training included robotics, electrical, coding and software training, as well as a set of mixed reality tools.
The HoloLens mixed reality headset allows engineers to perform diagnostics and troubleshooting at their own facility and replace equipment parts when necessary, while referring to a virtual manual that guides them through the process. The HoloLens headset integrates with Microsoft systems, allowing technicians to quickly connect with remote staff from any location or call an expert without an on-site visit when needed.
Collaboration with OEMs allows CBRE engineers to play a key role in system improvement programs. CBRE delivered 18 system enhancements to a pharmaceutical client over an 18-month period, five of which were developed by CBRE experts as they gained a unique holistic perspective through Microsoft HoloLens during support.
Not only does this partner program provide more transparency, but the savings provide real value to clients, including.
Reduced Wasted Time: For a pharmaceutical client, CBRE's field engineers saved 112 site visits and associated downtime over an 18-month period.
Reduced Carbon Emissions: Reducing OEM site visits not only reduces downtime, but it also reduces CO2 emissions by 403kg based on standard vehicle calculations.
Reduced costs: Saved more than 7,000 consumables that should have been re-run and preserved more than 6 million samples, saving approximately $500,000 in costs.
Further investment: For the OEMs discussed, the customer perceived the service and system reliability to be of a high standard, which resulted in further capital investment and increased brand reputation. This could not have been achieved without the presence of trained CBRE engineers.
Higher outputs: In addition, the uptime of the system leads to higher productivity, which in turn leads to higher scientific outputs for the department.
CBRE said, "By dramatically reducing the time between installing the system and ensuring it is operational, we are delivering the best possible results for our clients. Considering the way the system is designed to allow for the addition and removal of new equipment over time, this approach allows for long-term security."
