The immersive spatial content creation system is said to be designed to support creators in realizing complex 3D content creation, and Sony plans to work with a variety of 3D production software developers, including in the entertainment and industrial design fields. The system in question will be operational later in 2024. Sony and its partners will continue to announce more details, including specifications, dates, regions, pricing, sales channels and software compatibility.

During the launch, Sony announced an exclusive partnership with Siemens that will see the two companies work together to introduce a solution for immersive design and collaborative product engineering. Siemens said, "Together, we are creating an environment where physical reality can be experienced without the constraints of time, thus profoundly improving the way our customers work and collaborate."

Back to the Spatial Content Creation System released by Sony. It comes with an XR head-mounted display equipped with a 4K Micro OLED display and Sony's proprietary rendering technology that renders 3D object textures and characters' facial expressions in real-time, in high definition and realistically.

In addition to video perspective capabilities and spatial recognition, the system is equipped with both a joystick controller that allows users to intuitively manipulate objects in the virtual space, and a finger ring controller that allows for precise pointing, thus allowing creators to create in the virtual space through the controller and keyboard while wearing the headset.

Creators can not only see true-to-scale 3D models in extended reality environments with high-definition displays, but also create and modify 3D models within them. Through integration with third-party 3D authoring applications, it further supports remote real-time review between locations, making it an intuitive and immersive tool for the entire process of spatial content creation.

It's worth noting that the head unit is powered by Qualcomm's latest XR processorSnapdragonXR2+ Gen 2 platform. It unlocks the stunning image quality offered by 4K Micro OLED displays and provides user and spatial tracking for a seamless XR experience, resulting in a high-performance platform for creators' creative workflows.

Additionally, Sony has earlier introduced a range of technologies that support the quality of workflow and spatial content creation, thus facilitating 3D CGuse in a variety of creative fields. For example, the motion-capture system mocopi features small, lightweight sensors and a dedicated smartphone app that enables full-body motion tracking through Sony's proprietary technology.Spatial Reality Displays, on the other hand, provide highly realistic 3D content, allowing spatial content to be created and reviewed without the use of special glasses or headsets.

Now, by introducing a new spatial content authoring system and partnering with 3D authoring software developers, Sony hopes to further empower spatial content creators to transcend the boundaries between the physical and virtual realms for a more immersive authoring experience.
