The leaked video reveals more about theQuest 3 Details of upcoming "enhancements".
Literally, augmentation may essentially be mixed reality widgets. But at Connect, we didn't hear any specifics about how augmentation actually works.
Last week, a technical photographer posted two videos on their Vimeo account showing off Quest 3 enhancements, one from a user's perspective and the other from a developer's perspective. The videos were spotted by VR enthusiast Luna, but appear to have been posted in error and have now been taken down.
The video demonstrates a higher degree of interactivity and functionality than Connect announced, and hints that augmentation will become a fully-fledged mixed reality mini-application running within the Quest homepage interface.
The first video shows three sample enhancements: a mini pinball game that can be played, an interactive calendar and a virtual pet plant that can be watered.
The second video details how these enhancements work on a technical level.
视频显示,增强功能是使用Meta Spark Studio构建的。Spark Studio是用于在Instagram、Facebook和Messenger中为相机制作AR滤镜和体验的应用程序,目前可在Windows和macOS上使用。
As Meta has hinted at in the past, the video reveals that Spark Studio will also be a tool for building Quest 3 enhancements. The software supports importing and animating 3D resources, as well as advanced features using JavaScript.
The result is lightweight mini-applications that can run in parallel in the Quest home environment without the burden and bulk of a game engine like Unity. This is similar in some ways to Apple's Reality Composer Pro和RealityKit的策略,该策略允许应用程序在visionOS的“共享空间”中并行运行。
Enhancements were announced to be coming to Quest 3 at some point this year, and we'll keep you posted on any official announcements from Meta regarding a more specific timeline or more details.
