Apple wants to use Vision Pro for healthcare, aviation, education, training, and other ToB sectors

In a video sent to employees this week, Apple executive Mike Rockwell Rockwell) and Alan Dye discuss product development and potential growth areas for this still nascent technology.

When asked about "cool" ways to use the $3,499 Vision Pro, Rockwell cited key areas such as healthcare, training and education.
He noted, "Often, it's difficult for surgeons to turn their heads and see the monitor during surgery, and the information is distracting. the Apple Vision Pro can bring all of this together and promises to improve patient outcomes."
It's worth noting that this company told employees in a memo on Thursday that they will be eligible for a 25% discount when purchasing the Vision Pro. That's less than the 50% discount Apple offered when it launched its Apple Watch and HomePod smart speakers, but could bring the cost down to about $2,600, excluding taxes.
Cupertino, California-based Apple has positioned the Vision Pro as a consumer device for gaming, video and communications. But Apple is finding ways to broaden its appeal. Rockwell notes that technicians or airplane mechanics can use it to get "high-quality training like they've never experienced before."
Rockwell added that he himself is "really excited about what we can do in learning and education because that's another super feature of Apple Vision Pro."
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Two Rockwell deputies, Dave Scott and Yaniv Gur, are working on new applications for Vision Pro. Scott was an executive on Apple's automotive team before briefly leaving to run a mobile MRI machine company. He's now responsible for finding ways to use Vision Pro with force for the enterprise. Gurr, who used to engineer Apple's productivity apps, is now exploring potential educational opportunities for the device.
Apple is betting that space computing will eventually become a major revenue source. But the current high price will make it harder to win over consumers.
The success of the Vision Pro also depends on third-party developers. While Apple has partnered with a number of major entertainment providers, including The Walt Disney Company, other companies are reluctant to support the new device for now.

Apparently, Apple is hoping that the headset's groundbreaking technology will help win over users. Rockwell said, "We strive to make our products a tool, not a toy. In order to produce a product for productivity or high-end entertainment, the display has to be great, so we invested heavily in creating a new, uncompromising high-resolution display system."
