According to reports from The Information, The Elec, and The Financial Times, Apple is sourcing the Vision Pro's nearly 4K OLED microdisplays from Sony, which can only produce up to 1 million of these displays a year. Since you need two per helmet, less than 500,000 Vision Pro units may be produced this year.

The Financial Times also reports that Apple is in discussions with other OLED microdisplay suppliers to expand production capacity and reduce costs. However, supply will remain limited for the first-generation Vision Pro. Therefore, if demand continues to be strong after this initial surge, it could lead to a long backlog.
