Developers Have Applied Apple Vision Pro to SteamVR, But There Are Some Issues</trp-post-container

By porting ALVR, the developer has succeeded in bringing the Apple VisionProFor SteamVR.

ALVR is an Android client app with a Windows streamer for most Android-based headsets, including Quest, thePICOand the Vive XR Elite. but the code is open source, and the software developerZhuowei Zhanghas succeeded in bringing itsPorting to visionOS,这意味着Vision Pro也可以作为Windows PC VR头显。

Zhang's code is open on GitHub, and he's on a Mastodon instance owned by programmer J. Walter WeathermanConstruction instructions were issued.

Weatherman announcedA short clip showing his attempt at a Zhang port on a Vision Pro. There is noticeable jitter and visual anomalies, but it's unclear how much of these issues are Zhang's code and how much are Weatherman's Wi-Fi network conditions. I have contacted Weatherman and will update this post when I get a response.

Of course, even if these issues are fixed, you won't be able to play many SteamVR games. Most SteamVR content requires a tracking joystick, and the Vision Pro doesn't include or support any joysticks.

You can buy the SteamVR Tracking Base Station and Index Grip and manually align them using a tool like OpenVR Space Calibrator, but this will cost around $600 and the alignment will drift over time and need to be reset.

If you don't want to do that, the Vision Pro can still be used as a headset with a non-tracking input device, such as a steering wheel for simulated racing or a HOTAS setup for a flight simulator.
