Dungeon Full Dive, a VR tabletop role-playing game toolset based on Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (Dungeons & Dragons 5e), will soon be switching over to being free for gamers to use, while charging $50 for game hosts.
Launched last October with optional PC VR support, the Dungeon Full Dive will be split into two separate versions based on recent layoffs at developer TxK Gaming Studios.
The "Player's Edition" allows you to join online multiplayer sessions for free and restricts access to create miniatures, DnD 5 characters and maps.
The "Game Moderator Edition" gives you the ability to host sessions for other players and full access to the toolset. You can create an unlimited number of characters, maps and miniatures, and all owners will also receive an exclusive GM Edition dice set. Players who already own Dungeon Full Dive on Steam will be automatically upgraded to the GM version "at no additional cost."
As part of this change, TxK Gaming Studios has confirmed that with the release of the Gamer's Edition, the price of Dungeon Full Dive - Game Master Edition will increase significantly from $29.99 to $49.99. The studio says that this new strategy will make Dungeon Full Dive "more accessible to groups" by lowering the overall cost of entry.
No release date has been set for Dungeon Full Dive - Player Edition, but the original version is available on Steam Early Access and has been named the Game Host Edition. On the official website, TxK confirms that there will be a Quest version "coming after the full release."
