visionOS 1.1 is now available.

visionOS是苹果VisionPro的操作系统,未来也可能用于Vision头戴设备。今天,自Vision Pro于2月2日推出以来,它迎来了首个重大更新。

The biggest improvement in visionOS 1.1 is to Personas, Apple's realistic virtualized characters. Apple says they have improved the rendering techniques, the look of hair and makeup, the representation of the neck and mouth, and the ability to capture Personas without the use of hands.

Beta versions of visionOS 1.1 have been available since February 6, and testers were quick to share their Persona before and after comparisons.

Your Persona also drives EyeSight, which is a rendered view of the upper face displayed in front of the headset's prism, so this aspect should also be improved when using visionOS 1.1.

However, while Personas can still only be displayed in a 2D virtual window, like a webcam view. When Apple first showed Vision Pro at WWDC last June, they also demonstrated Spatial Personas, which exist outside of a window and can meet virtually in shared coordinate space like other VR avatar systems, but there is no timeline for a release yet.

In addition to the Persona improvements, visionOS 1.1 brings the following notable changes:

  • Improved discovery and connection reliability for Mac Virtual Display, a feature that allows you to pull out your Mac's display into a giant floating virtual screen.
  • Volumes, 3D apps, and objects that exist in shared spaces can now be placed closer to your location than ever before.
  • Most pre-installed Apple apps can now be uninstalled.
  • A notification number dot is displayed on the Compatible Apps folder, which contains the installed iPad and iPhone apps.
  • Cursor positioning for text input has been "improved".
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM) is now supported for configuration, deployment and management of enterprise devices.
  • Official support for Wi-Fi networks with mandatory registration, such as public networks that require registration for use, including hotels, cafes and airports.
  • Many troubleshooting fixes will improve the perfection and stability of the system.

Most of these changes are improvements and enhancements rather than brand new and important features. Apple usually shares details about brand new versions of its operating system at its annual WWDC developer conference, so it's likely that we'll learn about more important changes to visionOS 2 at WWDC 2024 in June.
