Warner Bros. Discovery is taking down games released by Adult Swim Games, putting Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick Reality at risk.

While games released under the Adult Swim Games brand can be re-released, licensing issues with Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick Reality will complicate the situation, and most of the games affected are original works. Studio Bean, the developer of Soundodger+, also said that Warner Bros. Discovery refused to directly transfer ownership of each game's existing Steam page, forcing them to start from scratch.

Studio Bean confirms, "As long as I removed any mention of Adult Swim from the game, including in the production staff list, they allowed me to re-release it to Steam (with 0 ratings and wishlist). I'm all for game saves, but this is not the right thing to do."

This comes at a time when Warner Bros. finds the company facing harsh criticism for its preservation practices. In addition to video games, it's also been criticized for removing TV shows from its digital streaming library for tax purposes, such as Final Space, as well as canceling almost-complete movies like Batgirl, Scooby-Doo! Holiday Parade, and Coyote vs. Acme.

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick Reality is currently playable on the original PlayStation VR and on PC VR via Steam and the Rift Store.
