Starship Home, a plant-filled mixed reality adventure game, is the first game announced as being developed exclusively for Quest 3.
Developed by Creature, Starship House is the studio's first game since its inception last year. It uses MR-penetration technology to turn your living room into a starship and lets you collect, cultivate, and form friendships with alien plants across the galaxy. The game promises a narrative-driven story that lets you investigate the evil disease affecting these plants. Check out the promo video below:
Starship House uses the 3D scene mesh generated by Quest 3 during mixed reality room setup to place virtual objects on your walls and furniture, which is probably why it won't be available on older headsets. While Quest 2 and Quest Pro allow you to manually label your walls and furniture as rectangular rectangles, this is a time-consuming and imprecise process. Additionally, the Quest 2's penetration mode image quality is low, only black and white.
Ahead of Connect 2023, Meta confirmed that Quest 3 won't have any exclusive games until 2024, excluding the mixed reality tutorial "First Encounters". In January, Townsmen VR became the first Quest 3 game to be unavailable on older Quest headsets. However, since it also works on PC VR and PlayStation VR2, Townsmen VR can't be considered the first true Quest 3 exclusive.
Starship House will launch exclusively on Quest 3 in Q3 2024.Quest 3 Links
