Bloomberg: Sony Suspends Production of PSVR 2 as Poor Sales Put Pressure on Inventory

Due to poor follow-up sales, people familiar with the matter noted that sales of the $550-priced headset device have been gradually slowing down since its introduction, while pressure on inventories is increasing. Sony's headset, which launched in February 2023, has reportedly produced more than 2 million units to date.

Macquarie Group said, "The excessive price of VR hardware is a major obstacle to its expansion. In addition, there are limited games that support VR devices, which leads to a lack of incentive for gamers to buy VR hardware, and there is a reason why content is limited; VR games cost much more to develop than regular games."
